The foundation dive shops deserve

A dive center is one of the hardest small businesses in the world to run. It is a retail store, a repair workshop, a school, a travel agency, and a call center - all at once, all under one roof, usually run by the same handful of people who also happen to be the instructors in the water.

And the software they are handed to run it? A Shopify store that does not know what a certification is. A separate booking tool that does not know what inventory is. A paper waiver binder. A spreadsheet for classes. A cell phone that is the shop phone. Six logins, six bills, and not one of them talks to the others.

We are not building another tool to add to the pile. We are building the ground the whole shop stands on.

That is the entire thesis of Plunkx. One operating system for the dive industry - point of sale, CRM, bookings, waivers, service tickets, the actual phone system, and AI woven through all of it. One stack. One bill. One login. Built by people who know that a regulator service interval and a course enrollment and a walk-up tank fill are not three different products - they are one business.

We are starting with one shop and building outward. Mars Scuba is tenant number one - a real dive center, running real classes, taking real money, every single day on top of what we ship. Nothing here is a demo. If it breaks, someone's Saturday morning Open Water class breaks with it. That is the standard.

This blog is the honest record of building it - posted most Fridays, sometimes twice a week, sometimes not at all when the week ate us alive. We will tell you what shipped, what broke, and why we tore things out and did them again. Because the foundation an industry is going to be built on should be built in the open.

Let's get to work.
